Sheck Wes announced on Friday (Nov. 20) that he is going overseas to chase his dream of being a basketball star. The rapper announced that he has signed by Paris Basketball and will be heading to France to play.

Both Wes and the team announced the news that he will be joining the French professional basketball club that is based in Paris, after he failed to be drafted in the 2020 NBA Draft earlier this week. The club currently plays in the LNB Pro B, the second division of basketball in France and Wes shared the exciting news on Instagram.

“BEENBALLIN OUT NOW. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THE Maoda. I WILL BE TAKING MY TALENTS OVERSEAS TO THE BEAUTIFUL CITY OF PARIS TO JOIN @ paris.basket CLUB, STAY TUNED, PARIS MON TELEPHONE SONNE TOUJOURS❗️🇫🇷 # HELL2PARADISE,” he captioned a post with videos of him practicing.

The team also took to Instagram to share the exciting news, which started with them reaching out to the rapper. “Sheck Wes entered the draft yesterday but was unsuccessful. We have seen the workouts, we want to give it a chance,” the club shared on Instagram along with a photo of the rapper, asking fans to tag him in the comments.

Earlier this week prior to the NBA Draft, the rapper took to social media to share that he had been training in hopes of joining the professional basketball league. “Damn… it’s really real … all my life I always wanted to follow my passion for music and basketball … Tonight that dream comes true! I want to thank the @nba for their hard work with the growing the game and every team that gave me an opportunity to work out and talk with them,” he captioned a post on Instagram.

Unfortunately, the New York emcee wasn’t chosen to join any teams, but then he released a new video for “#BEENBALLIN,” which led some to believe that the NBA Draft announcement was just a way for him to promote new music.
