Freddie Gibbs reacts to Jeezy and Gucci Mane’s Verzuz battle

After a week of Twitter-trolling Jeezy, Skinny Suge weighs in on the recent Verzuz.

Jeezy and Gucci Mane entertained over one million hip hop fans last night with their highly anticipated Verzuz battle. The night saw a few cold disses, too many hits to count and an amicable finale with the joint playing of “So Icy.” However, it wasn’t enough for Freddie Gibbs, who shaded Jeezy’s performance on Twitter.

“Jeezy might as well apologized,” Skinny Suge wrote. His comment seemed to be in reference to the olive branch Jeezy extended after Gucci played his 2012 diss track, “Truth.”

Rather than firing back after the song, which references the death of his associate Pookie Loc, Jeezy responded calmly. The “Soul Survivor” MC launched into a speech about his and Guwop’s legacies and why he decided to do the Verzuz battle in the first place.

“I extended my hand because I’m a real man,” Jeezy said. “… Twenty years. And when I said I wanted to do this shit for the culture, that’s what I wanted to do. I brought you here to show you the world care about what the fuck we got going on ‘cause we are the culture. You feel me? Me and you, where we came from, what we been through, n***a. Us.”

Though some fans on Twitter applauded Jeezy for rising above the diss, Gibbs clearly saw the move as an act of weakness. Of course, the pair’s own beef has sparked back up this past week with the release of Jeezy’s single, “Therapy For My Soul.” The track name-dropped Gibbs, which the Indiana native responded to on Twitter.

“U gotta come harder than this snow flake,” he wrote in one tweet.

In a recent interview with Angie Martinez, Jeezy explained why he chose to mention his and Gibbs’ falling out on the song.

“I feel like I said what I said because I do understand people gonna ask questions but that’s my business,” he said. “That’s how I feel; my opinion is my opinion. Someone don’t like it, they gotta figure it out. But a lot of that stuff was weighing heavy ‘cause it’s just been like decades of speculation and you’re like damn, that didn’t really happen like that. It’s real shit to me ‘cause it’s real life, and when your reputation and your credibility is questioned and you kept it solid, you got to really wonder who’s real.”
