On Friday (Nov. 13), Lil Uzi Vert released his joint project with Future, Pluto x Baby Pluto. Ahead of the album’s release, he interrupted fans’ excitement with some bombshell information about the future of his music career.

“I’m doing two more albums, then I’m out,” he wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.

After revealing the shocking news, an internet theory questioned whether Lil Uzi’s tweet referred to the end of his music career or his death. The Tik Tok video showed a clip of the 26-year-old’s 2016 interview in which he praised Marilyn Manson. “At age 27, I will leave earth for this man right here,” he said in reference to the rock star. Coupled with the tweet, the creator of the video believed Uzi wanted to be a part of the 27 Club, but the Eternal Atake star quickly shut down the theory.

“I let this go for so long. I never said I was gonna die,” Uzi tweeted. “Don’t you know ‘leave this earth’ is a term for taking DMT? I thought I was gonna really be one of those high ass niggas at 27 … SAY NO TO DRUGS!!!!!”

Since the rapper’s first mixtape, Lil Uzi, dropped in 2014, his career has grown significantly, with his previous album Eternal Atake earning him a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

Uzi previously hinted at retirement in early 2019 amid his conflicts with DJ Drama and his record label Generation Now, which he is signed to along Atlantic Records.

“I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supporters, but I’m done with music,” Uzi posted at the time. “I deleted everything. I wanna be normal … I wanna wake up in 2013.”

Pluto x Baby Pluto — the first of two Lil Uzi and Future collaborative albums — is projected to debut at the No. 1 position on the Billboard 200 chart.
