T.I. called for peace in Atlanta earlier this week on Instagram and advised individuals to handle their beefs in their own cities. The PSA didn’t sit right with some King Von fans, though, given the post’s close proximity to the rapper’s shooting death in Atlanta.

Now, following criticism from fans and other artists, Tip has released a statement to clarify that his remarks were not about Von’s tragic shooting.

“I don’t speak ill of my allies. My last post had nothing to do with King Von. Y’all grossly mistaken,” he wrote in a new post. “I have no motive or intention to do harm or malice to cats I’m cool wit.”

“My family’s hearts goes out to them & I’ve expressed this to the people in his life that matter most in this situation,” he added. “That’s all I’m concerned with.”

Furthermore, T.I. clapped back at one fan who attempted to associate his post with Von’s death, writing, “That’s a reach.”

The self-proclaimed “King of the South” shared his initial message on Monday (Nov. 9), advocating for peace in his home city.

“Atlanta is a beautiful progressive city filled with Black excellence,” he wrote. “We uplift each other & win together. Stop coming here to kill each other. That sh*t is played out. – Management.”

“Handle YOUR beefs in YOUR city. Thx in advance,” he added.

Von was tragically shot outside of an Atlanta nightclub early on Friday morning (Nov. 6). Police arrested and charged 22-year-old Timothy Leeks — a fellow rapper who goes by Lil Tim — with murder in Von’s case the following day. According to law enforcement, six people, including Von, were shot outside of the Monaco Hookah Lounge.

“Mr. Leeks is in police custody at Grady Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound,” a spokesperson from the Atlanta Police Department told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “The homicide of [King Von] is closed with this arrest.”
