On Tuesday (Nov. 10), President-elect Joe Biden had some choice words for the way Donald Trump has been handling his loss following the presidential election results.

While speaking to reporters in Wilmington, Delaware, Biden said that Trump refusing to accept the fact that he lost the election “will not help his legacy.”

“Well, I just think it’s an embarrassment, quite frankly,” he said. “How can I say this tactfully? I think it will not help the president’s legacy. I know from my discussions with foreign leaders thus far that they are hopeful that the United States democratic institutions are viewed once again as being strong…but I think at the end of the day, it’s all going to come to fruition on January 20.”

Although Biden was announced as the projected winner of the 2020 election, the General Services Administration (GSA) has not recognized him as the winning candidate. Until then, Biden’s team cannot have access to resources that will help aid their transition process.

Regardless, the president-elect is keeping it positive and is focused on bringing the American people together, regardless of their political affiliation.

“Between now and then, I hope an expectation is that the American people do know and do understand that there has been a transition,” Biden said. “Even among Republicans who are people who voted for the president. I understand the sense of loss, I get that.”

“But I think the majority of the people who voted for the president — a lot voted for him, a significantly smaller number, but a lot voted for him — I think they understand that we have to come together. I think they’re ready to unite and I believe we can pull the country out of this bitter politics that we’ve seen for the last five, six, seven years.”

A reporter also asked Biden about whether or not his administration planned to take legal action against Trump. “No, I don’t see a need for legal action, quite frankly,” he answered. “You’re seeing it play out, the actions he’s taking. And so far, there is no evidence of any of the assertions made by the president or Secretary of State Pompeo.”
