It’s been two years since Forest Gate’s own D Double E released his debut album Jackuum!, which is in itself surreal given how long the London Grime veteran has been shelling down microphones. This year, he delivers his official follow-up Double Or Nothing, which boasts 12 tracks and features from many of his fellow London peers, including Giggs, Ghetts, Kano, and Jme. The project was led by the singles “Bedroom Bully” with Ms Banks and “Tell Me A Ting” with Kano, the latter of which shows the longtime collaborators bringing top-quality bars like it’s still the golden age of grime:

“Man can’t tell me a ting about war, man can’t tell me a ting about clash, man can’t tell me a ting about P, man can’t tell me a ting about cash, man can’t tell me a ting about weed, man can’t tell me a ting about peng/

Man can’t tell me a ting from wada-wada way back, wada-wada way back when, man can’t tell me a ting about bikes, man can’t tell me a ting about cars, man can’t tell me a ting ‘bout production, man can’t tell me a ting about bars…/”

In addition to his solo work, D Double E has been crafting grime classics alongside Footsie as the duo Newham Generals, including the albums Generally Speaking and 5 Star General, as well as last year’s single “King Fox,” which landed on Idris Elba’s well-received Yardie mixtape. D Double E has also been rather prolific as a featured artists, stealing the show on tracks like Donae’O’s “Let Me Know,” Shy FX’s “Balaclava,” J Spades’ “Bad Man Ting,” and Skepta’s “Ladies Hit Squad.”

Press play on Double Or Nothing below, as well as a remix of the aforementioned cut “Tell Me A King” with P Money, Frisco, Novelist, and BackRoad Gee.
