Freeway’s son has tragically passed away. The State Property rapper took to social media early Thursday morning (Oct. 29) to confirm the news alongside a touching tribute.

“God knows I try my best to be strong, but this right here is a pain like I never felt,” he wrote next to a photo of him and his son. “Please cherish your time and your love[d] ones because we’re not promised the next breath. I pray Allah forgives my son for all of his sins, and I pray that Allah grants him the highest level of paradise. Amen. Please make dua for him & my family.”

DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, Ebro Darden and others in the hip hop world expressed their sympathy for the Philadelphia native.

Freeway’s son was following in his father’s footsteps as a rapper who went by the name of SnowHadd. He often posted freestyles on his Instagram page and recently dropped his single “It’s SnowHadd.” According to his account, he was a fan of his father’s music and longed to get his own record deal one day. “Told @phillyfreeway I need a deal. I got my foot up in the door,” he penned the caption of an Instagram post.

Freeway rose to fame as a member of the rap group State Property who was signed to JAY-Z’s Roc-A-Fella Records. He debuted as a solo artist in 2003 and is most known for his hit “What We Do,” featuring Hov and Beanie Siegel. His most recent project, Think Free, dropped in 2018 under his current record label, Roc Nation.

In recent years, the Philadelphia Freeway rapper was diagnosed with kidney failure, but after four years of waiting, he received a kidney transplant last year and fortunately underwent a successful surgery.

It is not yet known how Freeway’s son died.

Condolences to Freeway and his family.
