Back in April, R&B darling Kiana Lede shared her debut album KIKI. The songstress recently circled back and unleashed a deluxe version just last week, which featured seven additional tracks. Among the new additions was a remix of “Chocolate” featuring Ari Lennox. On the song, Kiana compares love to indulgence of the sweet treat:

“So chocolate, craving it. So amazing like it ain’t real. So unassuming, you got me losing it. It ain’t fair. Don’t know how to say what it feels like. All I know is it rains when it feels right. So chocolate, craving so amazing that it ain’t fair. You a winner and you hold my token. Got a rhythm I don’t wanna lose.”

Upon the first listen of the remix, some listeners may initially be confused at the absence of a Cordae verse although the visualizer’s title boasts his name. However, while examining the TIDAL credits, Cordae is listed as a composer, suggesting the rapper had a heavy hand in the track’s new beat, which is a more soothing and calm contrast from the more soulful and upbeat original. All seven new tracks on the deluxe came paired with Sasha Guimarães-directed visuals which all follow a seductive theme, featuring the lovely Kiana enjoying her own company in her bedroom.

In an interview with REVOLT from earlier this year, Kiana the ease with which she navigates her career now as opposed to when she first started:

“It’s a little easier to sift through now. I’m stubborn, but in the best way possible when it comes to my career. It’s about knowing what I want and being a little older. Sometimes, I look back on it like, ‘F**k, I wish I would’ve done this a year ago and trusted myself.’ But, at the end of the day, it all happens for a reason. I’m glad it’s all happening now. Weirdly enough, it’s good that the album came out now because people can only listen to it.”
