Back in August, Dave East released the third installment of his Karma mixtape series, which saw 15 tracks from the Harlem emcee and features from Mary J. Blige, Benny The Butcher, Young Dolph, Doe Boy, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Trouble, Trey Songz, Popcaan, and more. This past weekend, East unveiled a new visual from the project for “Envy,” which is produced by SAP and sees him rapping about the differences between his former life and the fame and wealth he’s experiencing now:

“I was tryna make it out a hellhole, now I’m spending thousands out on Melrose, walked a hundred thousand miles in my shell toes, now when I take pictures, still got my jail pose, bumping elbows with killers and lifers/

I’d rather chill in the projects, f*** chillin’ on Rikers, just ‘cause you there, ain’t gotta be active, they still gon’ indict us, my hand catching cramps countin’ s***, feel like arthritis, I really don’t write it, she saw me, now she feeling excited…/”

The visual comes courtesy of Street Heat and sees Dave East hanging with his crew while, in the distance, an apparent aspiring rapper looks up to him and tries to follow his idol’s path to success. In the end, said rapper is able to connect with Dave East in the studio.

In addition to the new visual, Dave East also took to social media to reveal that a deluxe version of Karma 3 is on the way, which will see eight additional cuts and new assists from DeJ Loaf, Meluchis, Chris Brown, Junior Reid, Jeezy, and G Herbo. He’s also recently been contributing to his peer’s own drops, including J Stone’s “All Or Nothin,” MC Eiht’s “Courted In,” and Vado’s “Politics.”

Fans can press play on Dave East’s “Envy” clip below. Karma 3 (Deluxe) drops this Friday (October 23).
