Ari Lennox gifts fans with surprise new track “Cognac Eyes”
The song was posted on her “secret SoundCloud” page.
R&B and soul favorite Ari Lennox blessed fans with her recent single “Chocolate Pomegranate” at the end of last month, but she wasn’t quite done yet.
She just unleashed a new surprise single titled “Cognac Eyes,” which is available only on SoundCloud as of right now. Ari gave fans a short notice before dropping the bomb on them. “So sorry fixing one thing in cognac eyes. It will be available in 20 minutes on my secret SoundCloud page that the label doesn’t know about,” the singer tweeted yesterday afternoon. The singer even raps a few bars at one point in the song:
“Coaster, hold the very same coffee we sip from. Atlantic star, sweet astronomy you are. Does a happy ending come with this massagе? Sike, I be your, for the night, as long as you arе stable.”
The track is produced by Dreamville’s very own Elite, who has been the mastermind behind some of the label’s most well-loved hits for many years. The producer even left a comment on the song that said: “what up secret soundcloud fam, glad you found this!!!! Lil fun fact me and ari made this the same weekend we made ‘Whipped Cream’ in Cary, NC !”
The “Whipped Cream” track mentioned by Elite was the first single Ari revealed from her debut album Shea Butter Baby, with its title track featuring head honcho J. Cole following afterwards. Although her last full length solo project was 2019’s Shea Butter Baby, she has been far from inactive. Ari is heard singing verses and hooks all over her label Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III project, and also collaborated with Nasty C on his song “Black and White.” In August, Ari appeared on Skip Marley’s EP Higher Place on the song “Make Me Feel” alongside Rick Ross.
