It has been 20 years since Outkast released their groundbreaking album Stankonia, and now two decades later, their hit singles “So Fresh, So Clean” and “Ms. Jackson” have been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

“So Fresh, So Clean” sold a million copies as of Thursday (Oct. 8). The song was released in March 13, 2001 as the third and final single from the classic album. The track reached number 30 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts at the time.

“Ms. Jackson” also reached the 1 million milestone on Thursday, according to the RIAA. The song was released on October 17, 2000, as the second single from Stankonia. It topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart for a week on February 17, 2001. The album’s lead single “B.O.B” has also been certified platinum by the RIAA, and it was released on September 19, 2000 through LaFace Records and Arista. 

The platinum certifications come in on the month Andre 3000 and Big Boi will be celebrating Stankonia’s 20th anniversary. The group recently announced that they will commemorate the LP’s release anniversary on Friday (Oct. 30), by reissuing an updated version of their fourth studio album, which will include previously unreleased remixes. They have been teasing the celebration on Instagram, sharing teases of what they have in store for their fans.

Sony Music announced on Thursday (Oct. 8) that they will release streaming bundles and new vinyl and digital download editions of the beloved project. The record will be updated on streaming platforms and Vinyl Me, Please will also release a new 2xLP version of the album on black and white galaxy vinyl to subscribers.

Stankonia featured the hit singles “So Fresh, So Clean,” “Miss Jackson” and “B.O.B.” and became one of the duo’s most critically acclaimed projects. The LP peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and spent 46 weeks on the chart, after selling 530,000 copies in its first week.
