Last fall, Jorja Smith kickstarted the march toward a new album with the infectious single “Be Honest,” which featured assistance from Burna Boy. Today, she unearths another dope cut titled “Come Over,” which features Popcaan and sees production from IZAÏAH & MadisonLST. The island-infused cut speaks to and would be perfect for that slow wine with a special someone at a party — if only we weren’t still in varying levels of quarantine:

“Wish I knew what’s on your mind, then I wouldn’t think it’s something I’ve done, oh, if you gave more of your time, yeah, we both might just get what we want, are you too scared to love me?/

Tell me what I did this time, why is it I work so hard for you? I wish I could read your mind, I don’t know if you want me to come over, don’t wanna ask, really I should know better…/”

It’s been two years since the release of Jorja Smith’s debut album Lost & Found, which saw 12 new tracks from the British star and was led by singles like “Blue Lights,” “Where Did I Go?,” and “Teenage Fantasy.” More recently, she contributed the tracks “By Any Means” and “Rose Rouge” to Roc Nation’s Reprise and Blue Note Records’ Bluenote Re:imagined compilations, respectively.

In an interview with L’Officiel, Smith spoke on her process with creating her next albumL

“This year, I just want to write again and again. My way of composing hasn’t changed: I start singing over a rhythm or an instrument and let the lyrics come out. I do a bit of freestyle, then I listen to it again and try to make it fit. I want to get back into piano again, I’m going to buy myself a baby grand.”
