Despite the ongoing pandemic, the NBA has found a way to still safely bring the season to fans this year. As the Lakers prepare to go head-to-head with the Nuggets next, rapper R-Mean taps Jeremih for Scott Storch-produced single “King James” to celebrate the team’s success with the season so far.

The song’s hook pays tribute to the one and only LeBron James, and even references his jersey number as well:

“We don’t ever come through the front door. Keep two or three with me like I’m King James. My team keep winning like I’m King James. 23 in my city like I’m King James.”

Behind the boards of “King James” is the legendary producer Scott Storch, who is responsible for countless classics we’ve all grown to know and love. Some hits include “Still D.R.E.” (Dr. Dre feat. Snoop Dogg), “Naughty Girl” (Beyoncé), “Lean Back” (Terror Squad), “Candy Shop” (50 Cent), “Make It Rain” (Fat Joe feat. Lil Wayne), and that’s just scratching the surface.

More recently, Scott Storch joined in on the Verzuz fun by facing off earlier this year with fellow producer Mannie Fresh. Both hit-making legends ensured the battle was back-to-back classics for the entire duration. There was some criticism following the battle, which Scott Storch addressed, as viewers were debating whether or not Storch should’ve played records people believed were produced by Dr. Dre.

R-Mean dropped his latest project The Warning back in August of this year, which included features from Wiz Khalifa, Styles P, Dave East, and more. In 2018, R-Mean sat down with REVOLT to use his platform to speak about his Armenian roots and also to educate viewers on the Armenian genocide.

“I got looked at a little crazy because being Armenian, [hip-hop] isn’t really the norm but at the same time, hip-hop is so universal right now. There’s emcee’s and artists in every country and everywhere you wanna look, in every language.”
