While many of his peers are pushing forward with new tunes for their quarantined fans, Meek Mill has been somewhat dormant. He did release a few dope singles this year, including “Letter to Nipsey” with Roddy Ricch, “Believe” with Justin Timberlake, and “Otherside of America,” a powerful musical contribution to the Black Lives Matter movement.

This week, the Philadelphia star unveiled a new visual that shows him freestyling over a YouTube beat, delivering the same hard-hitting, thoughtful bars that makes him one of today’s top-tier emcees:

“I gotta keep my FN on me every day now, ’cause I don’t trust the n***as I grew up with at the playground…/

They said they gon’ see me on the way down, when I’m really on the way up, I seen them, told them ‘stay up’ ‘cause I’m way up, quick to make a milli like a lay-up…/”

It’s been two years since the release of Meek Mill’s fourth studio LP Championships, which saw 19 tracks and appearances from Fabolous, Cardi B, Rick Ross, JAY-Z, Future, Young Thug, Drake, Kodak Black, Ella Mai, 21 Savage, and more. That project earned Meek both a Platinum plaque and his second number one album on the Billboard 200, earning 229,000 album equivalent units during its first week of release.

In addition to the freestyle, Meek took to social media to reveal a new song in the works, presumably titled “Loyalty Over Royalty,” along with an unnamed collaboration with Lil Durk and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Fans will also be able to check out Meek’s big screen debut in Charm City Kings, which is executive produced by Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith and stars Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Will Catlett, Donielle Tremaine Hansley, and more. That film will land on HBO Max October 8.
