Dame D.O.L.L.A has officially released his Kobe Bryant tribute track “Kobe” which features Snoop Dogg and Derrick Milano. The song originally appeared on the NBA 2K20 soundtrack, which was released earlier this month, but after a high demand for the official track, it hit streaming services today (Sept. 11).

“The response to my Kobe tribute track I did for #NBA2K21 has been so positive,” Dame wrote. “I just wanted to create something to pay proper tribute to someone that had a tremendous impact on me. Lots of y’all have been asking me to put it on streaming services. The wait is over.”

The song’s hook alludes to the expertise Kobe played with, which is seemingly effortless from the outside looking in:

“Pull it back, Kobe (swish), I’on even gotta look, I take the shot and hear it swish. I’on even touch the rim, when I pull up it’s just swish. Backboard what? Only thing I know is swish.”

The NBA 2K21 soundtrack has always been an opportunity to compile some of the hottest, carefully curated, and most triumphant hip-hop songs for users to hit their jump shots to, and this year was definitely no exception. The soundtrack this year includes songs like “GATTI” by JACKBOYS, Pop Smoke, and Travis Scott, “God’s Eyes” by Roddy Ricch, “Let Me Know (I Wonder Why I Freestyle)” by the late Juice WRLD, and plenty more.

California rap legend Snoop Dogg’s die hard love for the Lakers and Kobe Bryant has been well-documented throughout the years, making him a perfect co-pilot for the track. In addition to being court side for countless games, he saluted Kobe’s career by memorializing him with a virtual performance at the 2020 ESPY Awards.
