Before month’s end, fans will get to check out Action Bronson’s fifth studio LP Only For Dolphins, which will see 12 new tracks from the Queens emcee and features from Yung Mehico, Hologram, and Meyhem Lauren. Following the lead single for “Latin Grammys,” Bronson lets loose the second single “Golden Eye,” which is produced by Budgie Beats and sees the rapper delivering bars about the classic video game, Heavy D, and more. Essentially, the reggae-sampled cut allows more of the vivid, off-kilter rhymes and references that Bronson has become well-known for.

Via press release, Action Bronson explained the meaning behind the aforementioned album title:

“The dolphin is one of the most intelligent creatures ever created on whatever planet we’re on… They have their own way of communicating. They have nuance and intangibles like we do. The only people who understand me are those five-tool players, those higher beings who are on the same telepathic wave as me.”

Only For Dolphins follows 2018’s White Bronco, which was Action Bronson’s first official album following his departure from his Vice/Atlantic partnership. More recently, he also teamed up with The Alchemist for the 7-track EP Lamb Over Rice.

In related news, Bronson has also been received attention for his apparent lifestyle change, having lost an impressive 110 pounds and counting since the Coronavirus pandemic took over the globe. Speaking to GQ UK, he made it clear that his turn to dieting and heavy exercise became a “necessity” in regards to self-preservation:

“It all came from me just having to get s*** my together… I can’t be walking around at my age holding like close to 400 pounds. It’s a dangerous game we’re playing here.”

Press play on “Golden Eye” below. Only For Dolphins officially makes landfall September 25 — those who missed his hilarious visual for “Latin Grammys” can enjoy that here.
