Mulatto crowns herself ‘Queen Of Da Souf’ on new album

Mulatto is here to stay!

  /  08.21.2020

Although 2020 has been one hell of a year across the board, one thing that’s inevitable is the constant rise of women in Hip Hop — and we love to see it. From Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B’s success with their new single “WAP” to Flo Milli’s new EP Ho, Why Is You Here and much more, it’s such a relief to hear women taking over the rap game again. One could imagine this is the way our parents felt back in the 90’s when artists like Lil Kim, Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown and the other queens of that era took over.

With these gratifying feelings of excitement surrounding the releases by the women in today’s climate, rising Atlanta star Mulatto takes the spotlight today as she drops off her debut studio album Queen Of Da Souf.

It’s been quite a year for the 21-year-old rapper thus far. She’s garnered a spot on XXL’s notable Freshman list, inked a deal with RCA Records and earned her first gold plaque from the RIAA. One of her biggest accomplishments, though, was securing a feature and cosign from her favorite rapper (Gucci Mane) on “Muwop.”

She’s been rapping since 10 years old and watching her journey along with how she’s strategically orchestrated her moves over time is nothing short of motivational for any upcoming artist. One thing about Big Latto — she’s here to stay, and there’s no indicator showing that she plans to put her foot on the brake any time soon.

Equipped with 13 records in total, Mulatto tagged in some exceptional features including Gucci Mane, City Girls, 21 Savage, Saweetie, Trina and more. Judging from the first listen, it’s safe to say that Queen Of Da Souf will be on repeat for quite some time. Just how T.I. crowned himself “King Of The South” years ago and was able to stand on that, there’s no doubt that Mulatto will do the same for years to come.
