After setting the internet ablaze with her sensational “WAP” video, Cardi B sat down for a virtual interview with “The Breakfast Club” to explain how her first-ever collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion initially began through their respective stylists.

“[My stylist] was like, ‘You have to link up. I know you see the comments all the time; the people would love a song with y’all. You guys gotta get to know each other,’” Cardi told the show hosts, adding that her and Megan’s stylists are friends.

“I told him, ‘I know.’ Like, I’m just shy. One of my big things is that I’m really shy, especially when it comes to girls. I don’t know why. That’s just how I am… But they made it happen. We linked up and we had girly conversations — it was mad fu*king funny,” she continued.

“After that we started sending records to each other and she heard ‘WAP’ and loved it. As soon as I got her vocals, I was like, ‘Aw sh*t! This sh*t is fire!’ I loved it.”

The clip arrived early Friday morning (Aug. 7) and included high-profile cameos from Kylie Jenner, Normani, Rosalia and more.

“When it came to working with her on the video — and with her team — it was just like butter,” Cardi said. “Like, it was just a hand-in-hand thing, when it came to our clothes, when it came to our choreography, everybody worked hand-in-hand… It was just so easy.”

“We also came up with a big list of girls that we wanted on the music video,” she continued. “We got Rosalia, we got Normani, we got Ruby Rose, we got Mulatto, Sukihana and we got Kylie Jenner.”

On Twitter, fans noticed the influence from the legendary Lil’ Kim and credited the superstar for paving the way for the likes of Cardi and Megan.
