She’s back! After an eight year hiatus from music, Brandy has stepped back on the scene with her seventh studio album B7. Watching her grow up in the spotlight, we’ve all seen the heights she can take us to musically. 2020 has been full of many ups and downs as we all know, but music has been the only thing keeping our sanity intact during these trying times. Brandy couldn’t have dropped this project at a better time. Truthfully, it is a breath of fresh air to hear her voice on wax again, capturing our attention at ease with every record.

In a recent sit-down with Beats 1 Zane Lowe, the Grammy award winning, multi-platinum selling artist discussed how she wanted to go about creating this project:

I felt like I wanted to just be as honest as possible with this new project. I wanted to approach this new project like if this was my last chance, if this was my last shot at creating music like what would this project be about? What would it sound like? Would I just bear it all? Would I just tell my story as deep as I can tell it? And I wanted to of course stay true to R&B, but at the same time, go outside of the box.

With B7 being a very heartfelt and personal album, Brandy’s delivery is on point and welcomes us with open arms into her space. The project was also released under her own record label Brand Nu, Inc.

Clocking in at 45-minutes in total duration, the 15-track album features Chance The Rapper, super producer Hit-Boy, Canadian singer and songwriter Daniel Caesar, her own teenage daughter Sy’rai, R&B/hip-hop producer Darhyl “DJ” Camper, the versatile and Grammy-nominated producer Jeff “Gitty” Gitelman amongst others.
