If you were old enough to know what was going on in the music industry in the early 2000’s then there should be no doubt that you know the magnitude that Chingy’s music reached across the world. With his multiple hit singles “Right Thurr,” “Holidae Inn,” “One Call Away,” and more circulating across the charts left and right, the music was (and still is) truly contagious. His debut album Jackpot set the bar for many artists and it was almost scary how much of an impact the project had when it first dropped. Today, the STL rapper drops off his new album Crown Jewel.
It’s been nearly 10 years since the release of his last album Success & Failure and this with Crown Jewel intact, Chingy sounds new and improved with a more clear, sharper mind state. With this LP, the 40-year-old rapper went into a different direction by challenging fans’ perceptions as well as their expectations. While a lot of fans may want to get high on a nice dose of that “old” Chingy, the current times are clearly not on that side of paradise. Not only is that type of music outdated, Chingy is older and more mature so he has a more meaningful message to get across for your own benefit.
Describing it as a “mentally stimulating” project, the STL rapper does a great deed by providing these type of vibes that are thought provoking these days.
There’s a lot of self-reflection, inner transformation, making one think of changing from within, and gaining more knowledge about yourself — This is a good time to get to know yourself. People need some stimulation.
The 11-track album is produced majority by Koko of Basement Beats. Much of the material will sound new to some fans, but Chingy points out that he has studied anatomy, astrology and metaphysics. He considers himself a mystical thinker who looks at how the universe and human beings go together.
Make sure you put Crown Jewel in motion and vibe out.
