Back in June, Trey Songz headed to the front lines in the fight against racism and systematic oppression — not only by taking to the streets with his peers, but also via his single “2020 Riots: How Many Times,” which addresses the chaos our community continues to witness:

“Take a look around, can you see it now? Don’t be colorblind, ‘cause when they’re killin’ mine, they’ll try to justify it/

Oh each and every time, playin’ in a park, takin’ your jog, sittin’ on the couch, in your own house, never seem to matter what we do/

You think we don’t matter, but we do, you got a problem, ‘cause the city on fire, but you quiet when n***as die, let the soul up out that body that we buried…/”

Now, he unveils a visual for the track that shows footage of his “Black Lives Matter Weekend” event that took place in Richmond, VA, mere miles from Trey Songz’s hometown of Petersburg. Also in celebration of the Juneteenth holiday, viewers can see Songz — with the assistance of Pusha T, Tony Draper, and more — hosting a food drive that saw him providing groceries and other needed supplies to his community.

During the event, Songz also spoke on the country’s current events and how it’s effecting us in the worst ways imaginable (via):

“I know a brother, he’s 17 years old, he said he’s tired. I’m twice his age and I’m tired, my grand-daddy was tired before he passed. …they’re hurting my soul… I can’t sleep sometimes… I’m scared for my son. This could be any one of us, any given day. They’re taking our lives as if they can and keep walking… Keep living their life, go home to their families after they take one of ours. I ain’t going… We not going for that.”
