Last month, Buddy unveiled the powerful new single “Black 2,” which acts as the sequel to 2018’s “Black” and shows just how influential our community is in America, something that’s become exponentially important given the current demonstrations taking place all over the country:

“Everybody tryna get dreads and s***, but they ain’t African, all the light girls gettin’ a tan so they can darken they skin, I’m sorry, it’s a black thing/

I don’t give a f***, yeah, I said the s***, peep the rhetoric, everybody wanna design somethin’ for Louis Vuitton, but, baby, it’s a black thing

Blacked out in the backseat of the black Jeep Listening to “Black” by me, or you can catch me at Taste of Soul, eating on gumbo with the black-eyed peas, yeah/

Black on black on black, n***a…/”

The visual matches every lyric Buddy brings forth, and contains cameos from Guapdad 4000, Kent Jamz, and will.i.am. There’s also plenty of dancing and celebrating Black culture throughout, a perfect anthem that stands in the face of the systematic oppression we all continue to witness.

As previously reported on REVOLT, Buddy revealed to Hypebeast that he has reunited with former label boss Pharrell Williams for the making of his sophomore LP:

“Probably two, three months ago. I’m so in it, I don’t even know. Time is a crazy concept. I’m just trying to finish, you know? Last week it was me, Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo making music. I ain’t kick it with him since, you know – it’s been a minute. … But we were working together. I was working with The Neptunes. That s***’s everybody’s dream. That’s probably the most exciting thing that happened to me.”

Press play on “Black 2” below. Hopefully, there will be plenty more coming from Buddy and his camp soon.
