In the last couple of years, Pink Sweat$ has made a name for himself as one of the premier artists to follow, thanks to his breakthrough project Volume 1, as well as the hit single “Honesty,” as well as the subsequent VOLUME 2, which earned him a “Best New Artist” nomination at last year’s Soul Train Awards. Now, he follows those two EPs with a third titled The Prelude, which boasts seven tracks from the Philadelphia talent, including the Pink Sweat$ and John Hill-produced “17,” which can best be described as an airy forever love story:

“Every time you touch me, you remind me that I’m still alive, so promise you’ll never change/

And I’ll always be the same, we’ll be dancing the same groove when we’re ninety-two, the same as seventeen/

And I’ll never lie to you, just don’t you hold back on me, I wanna love you as strong when we’re ninety-two, the same as seventeen…/”

In a recent interview with BET’s “106 & Park Mic Check” series, Pink Sweat$ explained the meaning behind The Prelude, which will apparently serve as a proper appetizer before his debut album, said to be titled Pink Planet:

The Prelude is something I’m very excited about. [The] Prelude is about my new journey. You know, I’ve been experiencing a lot of new things. I would say some things have been a lot of confusion, me trying to feel my way through, you know. I’m new to this music industry as far as being an artist, and trying to navigate that. Also falling in love and navigating that, as well as navigating traveling the world, which is not an issue right now because of … the quarantine (laughs).”
