It’s been five years since Lianne La Havas released her sophomore album Blood. Now, she returns with a self-titled album that sees 12 new cuts from the English singer and additional production from Aqualung, Beni Giles, Mura Masa, Homer Steinweiss, and more. The project is broken into three sections, each centering around different moments from Lianne La Havas’ past relationships. As she explained to Genius, the album’s opening track, “Bittersweet,” encompasses the entire release:

“In the context of the whole album, it’s kind of the overview of reconnecting with yourself and realizing that you may have to change something dramatically in your life to make yourself happier and to get more fulfillment from your life. It’s basically about realizing that something needs to change, and then taking the steps to do so.”

The album is led by the two singles “Paper Thin,” “Can’t Fight,” and “Weird Fishes,” all of which produced some beautiful clips to match. The last of the three is a cover of Radiohead’s 2007 cut “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi,” taken from the iconic band’s seventh studio album In Rainbows:

“In the deepest ocean, the bottom of the sea, your eyes, they turn me, why should I stay here? Why should I stay?

I’d be crazy not to follow, follow where you lead, your eyes, they turn me, turn me on to phantom/

I follow to the edge, of the Earth, and I fall off, oh, yeah, everybody leaves, if they get the chance, and this, this is my chance…/”

In related news, she’ll be inviting her fans to a listening party alongside NPR, which will be hosted by Raina Douris and will featuring a live interview of Lianne La Havas provided by Suraya Mohamed.
