On Friday night (July 3), Hip Hop’s most outspoken critic T.I. shared a powerful Black Lives Matter message to social media.
For his post, Tip shared a photo of a note that read “kill a black on sight” and “#WhiteLivesMatter.” The notation appeared to be given out at protests happening across America in support of racial equality. “This what they on y’all. The hateful racist Whites at it again. While we’re marching [and] protesting peacefully for equality,” he wrote.
He continued, “They trying to create another false narrative to oust fear and hate into the hearts & minds of their neighbors 🤷🏽♂️WE ARE AT WAR. But the good news is – God’s only gon’ fight with 1side – OUR SIDE‼ They resorting to desperate measures because they know they losing leverage. THEY TIME IS UP! Just stay on point and protect US & OURS at ALL COSTS Don’t get caught lackin.”
This isn’t the first time that T.I. has used his platform to speak out against systemic racism. Last month, the Atlanta rapper hit the streets with protesters in his hometown, calling for justice for Rayshard Books.
“The man didn’t deserve to die like that,” Tip explained. “We are going to have to organize. We’re going to have to demonstrate but we are going to have to do it with purpose. And when I say purpose, I mean direction. We’ve got to go where we need to go and do what we need to do in those areas.”
He added, “Everybody needs to choose what it is you need to do, pick your purpose and operate with purpose and direction. And if you don’t do it in the name of Tip, do it in the name of Rayshard and all the rest of the people who died at the hands of the police. Love and respect. Rest in peace to Rayshard. Peace and love to everybody who deserves it.”
Last week, news broke that the ATL star is set to teach a course titled “Business of Trap Music” at Clark Atlanta University. The class will be available at the HBCU this fall.
