The Weeknd is continuing his charitable offerings with a $1 million donation to Coronavirus relief. According to Variety, the Canadian-born star donated $500,000 to MusiCares, which has provided financial support to recording artists during this time, and another $500,000 to the Scarborough Health Network, which is combatting COVID-19 in his hometown.

“I was raised in Scarborough and felt it was important to give back to the community that raised me during the hard times of this pandemic,” he told the outlet.

“Our vibrant and diverse community represents the best of Canada, and we are fortunate to have ambassadors like The Weeknd in our corner,” Scarborough Health Network Foundation President / CEO Elizabeth Buller said of the donation in a statement. “This gift will help our community hospitals continue to deliver exceptional care for the people of Scarborough in the wake of COVID-19, and demonstrates to our courageous staff and physicians that their critical work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.”

The Weeknd has also relaunched his line of XO face masks. All proceeds from the mask sales will reportedly be donated to Coronavirus relief organizations and the After Hours singer will match each dollar raised.

“Massive thanks to the fans for buying the xo masks and doing your part in helping fight Covid,” he posted on Instagram. “I promised to match what was sold. We need to keep fighting. Also a big shout out to everyone in Scarborough!”

The Weeknd’s donation follow his $500,000 contribution to the Black Lives Matter movement earlier this month. As reported by REVOLT, the singer split the donation between the Black Lives Matter Global Network and Colin Kaepernick’s Know Your Rights Camp Legal Defense Initiative, as well as $100,000 to the National Bail Out Fund.

“Keep supporting our brothers and sisters out there risking everything to push for actual change for our black lives,” he previously wrote on Instagram. “Urging everyone with big pockets to give and give big and if you have less please give what you can even if it’s a small amount. #blacklivesmatter.”
