Ahmaud Arbery’s mom tells Breonna Taylor’s mom, “Don’t give up”
“I know it has to be very uncomfortable to know that your child was taken away and no one went to jail as of yet,” she said.
Wanda Cooper-Jones, mother of the late Ahmaud Arbery, is sending words of encouragement to Tamika Palmer, the mother of the late Breonna Taylor. She sat down for a virtual interview with TMZ Live and offered uplifting words for Palmer as she continues to seek justice for her daughter’s killing.
“My heart goes out to her and to the entire family,” she said. “I know it has to be very uncomfortable to know that your child was taken away and no one went to jail as of yet. I just wanna let her know that I support her, I’m standing with her and eventually, that things will happen.”
A TMZ host then asked Cooper-Jones about how comforting it was to hear from people who have been through similar experiences. “Very encouraging,” she continued. “Actually, I think back often on how I made it through and I made it through actually from the strength of other people. If I could be that strength for someone else, I wanna be that strength.”
She then offered supportive words to Palmer as she continues to seek charges against the Louisville police officers who were involved in her daughter’s fatal shooting. “First and foremost, I would say don’t give up,” she said. “Pray about it. Basically, just don’t give up. She cannot give up. She must continue to fight. She must continue to be hopeful because things will happen.”
On June 24, it was announced that the three suspects — Gregory McMichael, his son Travis McMichael and William Bryan — were each indicted with nine counts of charges, including felony murder, for the fatal Feb. 23 shooting of Arbery.
Taylor’s family is still fighting to get the three cops who were involved in her death arrested and charged. So far, only one of the officers has been fired from the Louisville Metro Police Department.
