Unfortunately for festival goers, the 2020 season has been predominately wiped out due to COVID-19 concerns. On Wednesday (June 24), San Francisco’s Outside Lands became the latest festival to cancel this year’s gathering.

“We would love nothing more than to be with you this August, listening to our favorite artists in Golden Gate Park and celebrating the best of the Bay Area for our 13th consecutive Outside Lands,” an Instagram post from organizers read. “After lengthy discussions with local and state health authorities about the impact of COVID-19 both in our community and throughout the world, we believe it is in the best interest of everyone’s health and safety that Outside Lands not be held in 2020.”

However, the festival did announce plans for 2021’s event and reveal next year’s stacked lineup.

“In what has been a disappointing year for concertgoers and the music industry alike, Outside Lands is looking to the future. We all miss the much-needed community and positivity that comes with our annual celebration in San Francisco and we look forward to bringing the music back in 2021.”

“We are filled with excitement, hope, and anticipation as we announce our lineup for NEXT year’s festival, returning August 6-8, 2021,” the post continued. “Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Thursday, June 25 at 10am PT. We can’t wait to be back in Golden Gate Park with you, enjoying the best in music, food, beer, wine, art, cannabis and more for what we know will be our best year yet.”

Outside Lands 2021 will feature performances from Tyler, the Creator, Lizzo, Kehlani, Young Thug, J Balvin, Burna Boy, JPEGMAFIA, Rico Nasty, 070 Shake and more. According to the post, ticket holders for this year’s fest will be able to use their passes for next year’s event. Alternatively, attendees can also request a full refund before July 24.

“We are thrilled for the festival to be coming back in 2021,” Festival Co-Producer Allen Scott said Wednesday (June 24). “There’s been a lot of bad news out there with regard to COVID-19 and we want to give people something to look forward to. We’re hopeful that in sharing our excitement about the future of the festival and next year’s lineup, that it provides some much-needed positivity for our fans and community.”
