On Friday night (June 19), D.L. Hughley had a medical emergency. During his set at a Nashville club, the comedian passed out and was rushed to the hospital.

After video surfaced on the internet of the alarming moment, Hughley’s team provided an update. A rep informed TMZ that the Soul Plane star was “suffering from exhaustion after all the week’s work and travel, and was kept overnight at the hospital for tests under doctor’s orders. He is awake and feeling better, and wishes to thank everyone for the very kind prayer and thoughts.”

In addition to several fans, many celebrities posted heartfelt messages. “The Real” co-host Loni Love also provided an update, explaining that Hughley was doing much better. “My comedy brother DL Hughley is okay,” she wrote.

Like Hughley, comedian Dave Chapelle is also doing his best to keep the momentum going during these times of uncertainty. Most recently, he dropped a surprise Netflix special titled “8:46” in reference to the amount of time that ex-officer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck.

“This man kneeled on a man’s neck for eight minutes and 46 seconds. Can you imagine that?” Chappelle said during the special. “This kid thought he was going to die. He knew he was going to die. He called for his dead mother. I’ve only seen that once before in my life. My father, on his deathbed, called for his grandmother. When I watched that tape, I understood that man knew he was gonna die.”

“He said ‘Please.’ I can’t tell you, as a man, watching another man go through something like that, what it make you feel like,” he continued. “I didn’t watch the tape for a week. When I finally watched it I understood — nobody’s going home. Everybody who sees this is going to be furious.”

REVOLT sends well wishes to D.L. Hughley.
