With his recent studio album Wow…That’s Crazy still in motion, Wale gives the green light for the release of his latest EP The Imperfect Storm. There’s no secret that that the EP is inspired by the recent events circulating across the United States — the cover shows a still photo of a riot with dark skies above and a fire set to a number of objects in the middle of the street. The photo alone will give you chills as it makes a statement, setting the tone for the project before you even press play. He couldn’t have picked a better time to drop this one!

A number of racially influenced catastrophes have heightened in such a short time frame. Because of this, many artists in the hip hop community have made executive decisions to utilize their platforms to speak out against these racial and social injustices on wax. With the Maybach Music Group rapper being one of the most thorough wordsmiths in the game, it was inevitable that he’d speak on these unfortunate matters at some point.

Equipped with six records in total, The Imperfect Storm doesn’t have any features (it’s probably best that it didn’t), giving Wale all the space and opportunity to maneuver the way he wants through these instrumentals. This marks Folarin’s 21st project and one of the few vital Juneteenth releases that has a high replay value.

The revolution was televised and is still being televised and the DMV rapper lets a lot off his chest. Though it’s sort of a surprise, The Imperfect Storm serves as the prelude to what will probably a full length project from Wale sooner than later (hopefully). If you’re reading this, now would be a great time to press play below and let us know how you’re feeling the new EP.
