Attorney General Daniel Cameron asked the public to remain patient as his office continues to investigate the fatal police-involved shooting of Breonna Taylor. He has still not made a final decision whether or not to charge the three officers — Jonathan Mattingly, Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove — for the shooting.

“Our office is undertaking a thorough and fair investigation,” Cameron told reporters during a press conference Thursday (June 18). “We are working around the clock to follow the law to the truth. Everyone involved in this case deserves nothing less.”

He also asked for the public to remain patient as the investigation continues. “An investigation of this magnitude requires time and patience, however, I can assure you that at the end of our investigation, we will do what is right. We will find the truth.”

Cameron was also asked about the letter Beyoncé wrote demanding that he and his office bring forth charges to the three officers and conduct an additional investigation into how the department responded to Taylor’s death. “Whether it’s a celebrity or Kentuckian or any interested party, I take great care and concern in every letter we receive and completely understand the interest surrounding his case,” the attorney general said. “It doesn’t matter who sends me a piece of mail, it won’t have any bearing on the case. Our responsibility is to the facts and the law.”

Last week, the Louisville Metro Police Department released Taylor’s incident report, but it was primarily blank. The four-page report listed the date, case number, time, incident location, her full name, age and race. Taylor’s street number, apartment number and date of birth — which have been widely reported — were censored from the report.

The police listed her injuries as “none,” despite the fact that she was fatally shot at least eight times. The report also listed the charges as “death investigation — LMPD involved,” but checked the “no” box when asked did the incident occur from forced entry. The officers reportedly used a battering ram to knock in her apartment door.
