Recently, G-Eazy took to the Oakland streets to protest in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, continuing a stance that he made very clear when he joined YG on 2016’s “FDT, Pt. 2.” In that same year, G-Eazy wrote his own socially conscious cut titled “Love Is Gone,” which featured Drew Love and ended up on his fourth studio album The Beautiful & Damned in 2017:

“S***, the world is in flames, we worry about materials and the simplest things, when cops are killing people, and they can’t take the blame/

They get acquitted, then you wonder why all the people rage, stupid, we all keep praying for peace, praying for progress/

If you live in the hills then you stay in the projects, so folks won’t listen if they think what I’m saying is conscious, they’d rather hear me turning up on some simpler topics/

Yeah, so what’s my place, am I outta line? Then speaking on what’s going on and saying what’s on my mind? This s*** is f***ed up, plus it’s happening all the time…/”

Unfortunately, the problems that he spoke on throughout that release continue to ring true today. Over the weekend, G-Eazy decided to remix the track with a new verse from Los Angeles rising star JAHMED. In addition, he added a new visual that shows the many demonstrations that have been taking place on the west coast.

Fans were first made known of the upgraded cut when G-Eazy revealed his reasons for bringing the song back to the forefront on social media:

“I wrote “Love Is Gone” in the Summer of 2016…Fast forward 4 years later, and the same racial injustices are still happening day after day in our country. The fight against inequality is as important as ever. This is more than just a song to me, it’s a message… All lives can’t matter until #BLACKLIVESMATTER”
