Kodak Black is teasing his return. On Tuesday (June 9), the incarcerated rapper hopped on Instagram to announce an upcoming release called “Vultures Cry 2” and revealed that he’s currently got more music in the vault. While Kodak didn’t specify whether “Vultures Cry 2” will be a single or project, he did share that it will feature Mike Smiff and WizDaWizard. The release is expected to drop on Thursday (June 11).
“This Ones For Florida. Vultures Cry 2,” Kodak posted alongside the release’s cover art. “Coming Out On My Birthday.”
Furthermore, the Florida native gave his fans an update on his prison sentence, adding that he’s expecting to be home “real soon.”
“Gonna Be Home Real Soon To Drop All These Projects,” he wrote. “Snipergang Or No Gang.”
Kodak’s post arrives a few days after the multiple weapons charges brought against him were dismissed by the Florida state attorney. Kodak’s lawyer Bradford Cohen shared the good news with XXL on Friday (June 5).
“[We] just discussed in terms of fairness and what we thought was fair,” he said. “… In federal court, he was charged with filling out a false form to obtain firearms and in the state case he was charged with the firearms. Because he wasn’t a convicted felon, they couldn’t charge him federally for a convicted felon.”
“I just explained all those things to the state attorney and she was cool. She was like, ‘Listen, I wanna do the right thing. I wanna do what’s fair and I think it’s fair to dismiss the charges. He’s already taken a plea to the federal charges. I don’t want to hold him up in terms of getting help for any kind of treatment he may need,’” Cohen continued.
On Tuesday (June 9), Cohen also revealed that due to the charges being dropped, he is now looking to relocate Kodak to a safer facility.
“Federal Judge Moreno, has granted my motion on [Kodak Black] and states that the criminal history category 3 was overstated,” he wrote on Instagram. “This coupled with the dismissal of the Miami case, should allow [Kodak] to be moved to an appropriate prison where he can get treatment and not be 1100 miles away from his family.”
