Birdman is continuing to help out residents in his hometown amidst the pandemic. This week, the hip hop mogul and Cash Money Records co-founder Ronald “Slim” Williams donated over $225,000 to the New Orleans nonprofit Forward Together New Orleans in a combined effort to pay June rent for hundreds of tenants living in New Orleans’ Scattered Sites Harmony Oaks, Marrero Commons and Guste communities.

New Orleans made us and is part of who we are,” Slim said in a press release. “We are devastated that this pandemic is hitting our community there so hard and we are committed to doing what we can to help now and in the long term.”

“The legacy of Cash Money belongs to the city of New Orleans,” Birdman added. “There’s nothing more important to us than giving back to the brothers and sisters who live on those same streets we grew up on — from musicians to service workers to everyday working families.”

The news arrives after Birdman offered to pay rent during the month of May for several residents in New Orleans’ Uptown area, where he grew up.

“I would like 2 offer to pay everybody rent for month of May (for those who in need) in residents area of UPTOWN New Orleans where I was born and raised at,” he wrote on Instagram. “From mac melph calio and ST Thomas housing also from 3rd ward to 17th ward.”

“I also wanna thank all hospitals on [the] front lines risking [their lives] to save lives,” he continued. “I wanna thank everybody that works with the Gladys and Johnny Foundation [and] my company Cash Money Records.”

Earlier this year, New Orleans native Master P also helped out his hometown amidst the pandemic by offering free home cleaning services and free hand sanitizers to elderly residents.
