DMX is apologizing to Lloyd Banks after he questioned his lyrical ability.

While speaking with Fatman Scoop on Instagram Live, X and the DJ discussed who some of their favorite lyricists were. Scoop mentioned Lloyd Banks as one of his choices and the “How’s It Goin’ Down” rapper questioned him. “Lloyd Banks? Lyricist?” he asked. “Quote four bars. Impress me with four bars of his. It shouldn’t be hard.”

After hearing about his comments, Banks took to Twitter to explain why he thinks DMX made those comments about his lyricism. “So, because I didn’t come to the studio to work when HE reached out..I’m not that good?” he tweeted. He also revealed that he missed their studio session because he had to catch a flight.

The Flesh Of My Flesh, Blood Of My Blood MC realized that he made a mistake and confused Banks with his previous G-Unit comrade Tony Yayo. X took to his Instagram stories to apologize to the “Beamer, Benz, Or Bentley” spitter.

“It takes a real nigga to admit when he’s wrong… my apologies to Lloyd Banks,” he wrote. “I was thinking Tony Yayo when I was asked about Banks. I fuck with Banks!”

X has been in the headlines a lot lately, especially for challenging JAY-Z to a Verzuz battle. Last week, N.O.R.E. posted a video of him speaking to Swizz Beatz about battling Hov. “[Eminem] don’t want it,” X said in the video. “I rather go against my arch-nemesis.”

Swizz then mentioned how the 4:44 MC didn’t want to come out to battle. “He don’t gotta come outside nigga it’s in the house,” X replied. “He can’t go in the basement and play some records?… That’s what I’m saying. That’s why it should be done. It’s a celebration. We’re celebrating music. He got some hits too. He can play ‘Money, Cash, Hoes,’ then I can play ‘Money, Cash, Hoes,’” he said, referencing their 1998 collaboration.
