Last week, Lloyd seemed to capitalize off of Teddy Riley’s latest return to music headlines by joining forces with the legendary producer on his latest single “Slow Wine Bass Line.” Now, that sultry cut gets a dope video courtesy of Beef Jones, which sees the NOLA-to-Decatur star zapped back to a house party in the 70’s. Unfortunately, Teddy Riley doesn’t make an appearance, but things certainly get hot and heavy, with Lloyd and others taking things to another, adults-only level throughout the retro residence.

“Slow Wine Bass Line” marks Lloyd’s latest release since last year’s remix of “Caramel” with City Girls. The original version of that cut can be found on Lloyd’s fifth studio album Tru, which was released in 2018. 2019 also saw his latest acting gig, playing Switch’s Gregory Williams in the TV One biopic The Bobby Debarge Story. Speaking to Billboard, he explained how he got the role:

“The reason why is Russ Parr — the man, the myth, the legend. He put me on my first tour after my debut hit single ‘Southside.’ Russ called me personally. He knew that I’d read for the Tommy DeBarge role, but that part required more time on-set and I was touring with B2K. Russ then said he had another role for me, that of Gregory Williams. He told me he had another role that didn’t require as many days on set, but that I’d have to be on set that very next day.”

As far as Teddy Riley, he found himself thrust back into the spotlight as one of the more recent competitors for the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland-helmed “VERZUZ” battles, which take place on Instagram’s Live feature and allows classic and current artists and producers to pit their best hits against their opponent’s. Sparring with the equally iconic Babyface, Teddy Riley delivered classics that both reminded fans of his catalog and introduced him to an entirely new fanbase — which will hopefully lead to more music from the multi-talent in the future.
