G Herbo and Lil Durk are showing their respect for each other’s work.

After catching wind of DJ Akademiks’ post about their upcoming Instagram Live battle tonight (May 23), Durk clarified that it’s not a competition. “Battle?” Durk wrote. “I’m playing my fav Herbo songs.” Herbo also shared a similar sentiment. “Lol, I’m finna get in super fan mode with my top 15 Lil Durk hits,” he added.

Both rappers dropped brand new projects this year. During a conversation with REVOLT, Herbo opened up about the inspiration behind his latest album PTSD. He also gushed about his record with Juice WRLD, a fellow Chi-Town spitter, who passed away from an accidental drug overdose last year.

“You don’t know how hard I fought for the record. It was always a special record. Even before my little brother’s demise, I always knew it was going to be THE record. I always knew it was a special record. It’s a blessing and a curse because I hate that it has to be this… final ride in a such [way]. I can’t really make music or even enjoy life with my little brother no more. But, it’s a blessing to be able to celebrate his life on my album. That means so much to me. I try to make the best of all these situations,” Herbo explained.

As for Durk, he dropped his album Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 earlier this month. During an interview with Billboard, the 27-year-old revealed why he released the LP during quarantine. “Honestly, I’m just waiting on Metro [Boomin’]. Me and Metro are dropping the No Auto album, so I’m just here in the quarantine thinking I’d drop something just for the streets while they’re waiting,” he explained.
