If you missed it, last weekend saw hip hop greats Ludacris and Nelly become the latest live matchup in the Swizz Beatz and Timbaland-helmed “Verzuz” series, which saw plenty of high-quality (and hilarious) moments throughout. During the battle, Ludacris premiered a new track titled “Silence Of The Lambs,” which features assistance from Lil Wayne and sees Ludacris addressing some controversial names:

“The world’s screwed and n***as pourin’ drinks like Bill Huxtable, I love R. Kelly but around my daughters, I’m not comfortable/

Stand for what you believe in like Kaepernick, you either in control, or you gettin’ f***ed, no abstinence/

It’s not enough blacks in the drivin’ seat like a Nascar, why? ‘Cause racists people still drinkin’ what’s in Roseanne’s bar/

Gandhi told me to be the change that I wanna see, but Mayweather told me blow my chains on the shopping spree…/”

The first couple of lines in the song generated some criticism from social media, which isn’t surprising considering R. Kelly’s history and current incarceration. This eventually caused Luda to further explain his stance with Big Tigger on V103 Atlanta:

“Sometimes when you speak on records, you speakin’ like it’s just me and you having a conversation as friends… But, you just speaking and just being honest. I saw that a lot of people kind of misconstrued or didn’t really understand what it was that I was saying.”

“Silence Of The Lambs” follows another surprising release, the previously unreleased Ludacris, Lil Jon, and Usher collaboration “SexBeat,” which premiered during Lil Jon and T-Pain’s “Verzuz” battle. Prior to that, he released two singles in 2017 — “Vices” and the Ty Dolla $ign-assisted “Vitamin D.” His last studio album, Ludaversal, was released back in 2015.

Press play on “Silence Of The Lambs” below. Hopefully, this is a sign that Ludacris has plenty more music on the way.
