Fat Joe says Eminem sent him 30 versions of his verse for the “Lean Back (Remix)”
“This guy is such a perfectionist,” Fat Joe said.
Eminem’s name has been brought up multiple times as a possible contender for Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz battle. Fat Joe recently spoke on REVOLT’s “Drink Champs” with DJ EFN, N.O.R.E. and Lenny S about who they think could possibly battle Em and how much of a perfectionist the “Stan” rapper really is.
“I don’t know who wanna battle Eminem,” Joe said in the interview. “I don’t think nobody can fuck with Eminem. DMX got the biggest hits in the world, one of the greatest rappers of all time. Legendary, iconic, superhero. And everything I’m saying is understating him, he’s bigger than that. But, there’s something about that white boy and his fans — nah bro, you want to see something cracking the internet? That nigga David Koresh, that nigga different!”
N.O.R.E. then goes on to say that he doesn’t believe that Eminem bodied JAY-Z on the track “Renegade.”
“I don’t have an opinion on that,” Joe replied. “Eminem was hot when we came out. His fans from day one when he was making ‘Stan’ are 40, 45 years old. These white people teach their kids that are 10 years old that Eminem’s the greatest. You go in the airport and 10-year-olds are playing his shit.”
He continued. “There’s a big difference with his boy. When you say generational wealth, they keep teaching their kids that he’s the man to the ultimate science.”
The Jealous Ones Still Envy rapper then shared how Em sent him 30 different versions of his “Lean Back (Remix)” verse because he wanted it to be perfect.
“Eminem’s the only guy who sent me the ‘Lean Back’ remix— he sent me that same verse 30 times,” Joe recalled. ”Saying it with a different tone, a lighter tone. He wouldn’t make up his mind—30 different takes and verses! The same verse! Different flows, different highs, lows. I don’t know what to tell you, this guy is such a perfectionist.”
