Last week, Bronx emcee Lil Tjay liberated his latest EP State of Emergency, which provides seven hard-hitting cuts for those trapped inside during the quarantine. This week, he follows that release with a new visual for “Zoo York,” a drill number that sees Tjay teaming up with Brooklynites Fivio Foreign and the late Pop Smoke. Over production from Non Native and Bordeaux, the three get vivid about the city they come from:

“Walk in the spot and it’s litty, designer through city, you know I’ma turn up, bro got the Henny and I got a blunt, f*** around, throw a band when I burn up/

Shawty right here, she a freak and she move like a pro, tryna dance, so I churn her, think she feelin’ my d***, it’s the burner/

She ain’t used to my bop, she a learner, I gotta flex up, ’bout to cop a new piece just to glitter my neck up/

They ain’t f***in’ protect us, We was young n***as dreamin’ ‘bout pickin’ Pateks up, quit tryna arrest us…/”

As Tjay and Fivio previously teased on social media, the accompanying clip shows the rappers and their crews out in full force, mobbing for the camera in different locations around New York City — including the highway:

Clearly not concerned with social distancing directives, the artists prove just how much they run their city, with crowds and the police out on the streets in droves. Viewers are also able to see different shots of Pop Smoke throughout, performing on stage, in the studio, in the clubs, and more. It certainly adds a truly bittersweet element to an amazing Empire City anthem that fans can enjoy.
