It’s been proven time and time again that Rico Love was born to make hits. After years of working with talent such as Omarion, Marques Houston, TLC, Chris Brown, Beyonce, Usher and more; the New Orleans hitmaker gives back by curating an album filled with nothing but heat. Titled Rico Love Presents: The Emerging Women Of R&B, he not only wanted to showcase the new women talent in R&B, he wanted to pay homage to the ones who have already emerged. The project as a whole is said to be about transition and progression.

Through the years, many people argued that a lot of his hit records didn’t get the proper attention they deserved. Rico addressed this in his latest exchange with You Know I Got Soul:

“All of those records were number one at Urban radio, but when people run down the charts, they’ll say that it peaked at number 22 on the Hot 100,” he said. “Do you know what a number one record at Urban means? It means you have the coolest song in the country. Black people dictate what’s hot and most of my hits were on the Urban side, and I’m so proud of that.”

Some of the key features on the album include — but are not limited to — K. Michelle, Sevyn Streeter, and the legendary Deborah Cox. After listening to The Emerging Women Of R&B, Rico humbly proves why he’s one of the best to do it. With the Verzuz Instagram battles still in motion, it would probably behoove someone to reach out to Swizz Beatz and Timbaland to orchestrate a proper hit battle with the R&B sensation and an evenly matched opponent.

The 11-track album should be just enough to indulge to help get you through the rest of quarantine. Do yourself a favor and check it out below!
