Megan Thee Stallion is honoring her late mother Holly Thomas on her birthday. The “Captain Hook” rapper took to Instagram to share a throwback photo of the two with an emotional message.

“Happy birthday mama,” she wrote. “I miss you everyday! I know you’re watching over me rooting for me and keeping me going. I don’t have you physically here telling me what I should do so I’ve been trying to figure it out on my own remembering all the advice and lessons you’ve taught me before. You are such a strong woman and I promise to make you proud and be one too! We love you Holly!”

Thomas passed away last March from a brain tumor. She was Meg’s biggest inspiration and biggest supporter. The Houston Hottie recalled how she was initially nervous to tell her mother about her dream to become a rapper.

“I went home and told her I could rap and she was like, ‘No you can’t,’” Megan said during an interview with Rolling Stone. “I’m like, ‘Yes I can.’ I started rapping and she was like ‘Oh my god! No, you not coming out ‘til you’re 21!’”

Following the release of the highly successful “Savage (Remix),” a very emotional Meg took to Instagram Live to share how happy she was about the collaboration and how much of a Beyoncé fan her late mother was.

“It’s really crazy cause like, my mama was like a really huge fan of like Beyoncé and she used to make me watch a lot of Beyoncé stuff,” she said. “And it’s like, when I met her I was like, ‘Oh my God.’ And I ain’t wanna be like, ‘Oh my God Beyoncé me and my mama love you.’”

She continued, “This shit is crazy — And it’s just like, for Beyoncé to even do a song with me — I really only been out for like two years. This is the beginning of year number two. Like, Beyoncé? It’s really crazy.”
