Twitter reacts to Jill Scott and Erykah Badu’s “Verzuz” battle
Twitter users are excited for the first female “Verzuz” battle.
The first female matchup of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s “Verzuz” battle has just been announced today (May 1). Jill Scott and Erykah Badu are set to go head-to-head on Instagram Live on May 9 at 7 pm ET.
“It’s time for the Queens to represent,” Swizz wrote in an Instagram post. “[Erykah Badu] vs [Jill Scott] the paperwork is in [Timbaland]. Shout out [Femme It Forward] let’s Go May 9th the day before Mother’s Day Zone.”
Both artists have extensive discographies. Badu will have records such as Mama’s Gun, Worldwide Underground, Baduizm, New Amerykah Part One and New Amerykah Part Two to choose singles from. She also has her 2015 mixtape, But You Caint Use My Phone, at her disposal.
Scott can choose singles from her many albums including Woman, Who Is Jill Scott?, Words and Sounds Vol. 1, Beautifully Human: Words and Sounds Vol. 2, The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 and The Light of the Sun.
The news of the battle has taken over social media. Jill Scott is currently the number one trending topic on Twitter. Fans are now debating who they think will win.
Twitter user @Eunique_ny tweeted, “This Badu vs Jill Scott battle is gonna be amazing!! That’s grown women energy right there. Kids definitely can’t watch that Lmaoo.”
Another Twitter user wrote, “Jill Scott better play Shame, Crown Royal, Closure, Love Rain, Slide, Daydream, Hate On Me, Hear My Call, Quick, So Gone, Slowly Surely, The Fact Is (I Need You) Live In Paris, Cross My Mind…. @missjillscott listen, I got you!!! We gon make sure you win.”
Social media user @caramelshines tweeted, “I absolutely love both of these women! Jill Scott is amazingly talented but so is Erykah Badu. Overall, Erykah Badu has this one tho!!! I cannot wait!!!”
