Lil Durk is lending a helping hand in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Friday (April 24), the Chicago native and his team pulled up to his hometown and donated free meals to healthcare workers. In addition to that, the “My Beyoncé” rapper also made “100 meals available to healthcare professionals for pickup later that night.”

While speaking with TMZ, Durk opened up about his selfless act of kindness. “Everyone back home has been in my thoughts, especially those doing something for the community and all the neighborhood heroes. I thought about all the first responders putting their lives on the line to help out and it inspired me, so I took a jet back to Chicago to show my thanks,” he explained.

Durk’s selfless act of kindness came after he released his latest music video “All Love” last month. The CrownSoHeavy-directed visual included clips of the 27-year-old paying homage to his hometown and his performance on stage at Rolling Loud. “All Love” also follows the release of Love Songs 4 the Streets 2, which Durk dropped in August 2019.

In the last few months, Lil Durk has been one of many celebrities to give back during Coronavirus. Earlier this week, REVOLT reported that Beyonce donated $6 million towards mental health aimed at providing relief to essential workers. The mother of three’s generous donation came after she delivered a powerful speech about the impact of COVID-19 on African-American communities.

“BeyGOOD recognizes the immense mental and personal health burdens being placed on essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic,” a statement read. “In our major cities, African Americans comprise a disproportionate number of workers in these indispensable occupations, and they will need mental health support and personal wellness care, including testing and medical services, food supplies and food deliveries, both during and after the crisis.”
