Fred The Godson has passed away at the age of 35 after his battle with COVID-19. The Payback rapper had been fighting for his life since he tested positive for the deadly virus earlier this month.

His wife LeeAnn Jemmott told XXL that his health had started to improve. She said that he had been placed on a ventilator but started to begin breathing on his own.

“He was then put on a ventilator, and as of today (April 9), the doctors already weaned him down from 100 percent support to 40 percent support of ventilation,” she said. “He is fighting and he is winning. He has no sign of infection. His heart is strong and working well. His kidneys have been affected, but as of today, he has started dialysis to clean the toxins out of his blood. Fred is going to make it. God is good!”

Although things were starting to look promising for the XXL Freshman alum, his publicist revealed that he was still in the intensive care unit and said that his kidneys were not working.

News of his death has taken over social media. Family, friends and fans have expressed their condolences and some have shared their fondest memories of the MC.
