After some two years of waiting, it appears that fans are finally close to getting Playboi Carti’s long-awaited album Whole Lotta Red. This week, he surprises everyone with a new song from the project titled “@ Meh,” which is produced by Neeko Baby, Deskhop and Jetsonmade and keeps with Carti’s usual theme of sex and violence:

“I ride with the chopper, the stick, yeah, these b***hes ready to kill, yeah/

My n***as, they ready to drill, yeah, I got niggas in Riverdale/

My young n***as, they came from hell, hold up, yeah, the chopper go ‘round like a Ferris wheel/

These moms are cryin’, oh well, I don’t give a f***, you can tell, I’m really ‘bout that s***, we eat at the police…/”

The visual comes courtesy of Carti and Nick Walker and sees the artist performing in front of a backdrop in a dark setting. His near-silhouette is interspersed with half-naked women and black-and-white snapshots, which is pretty on-brand for the Atlanta star.

Whole Lotta Red follows 2018’s Die Lit, which saw 19 tracks and appearances from Pi’erre Bourne, Young Nudy, Young Thug, Skepta, Gunna, Chief Keef, Lil Uzi Vert, Travis Scott, and more. Die Lit earned Carti a top 3 spot on the Billboard 200 thanks to 61,000 equivalent album units sold.

The new release also comes in the wake of some legal trouble. Earlier this month, Carti and an associate were arrested after police found drugs and guns in his Lamborghini during a traffic stop. According to one of the officers, Carti allegedly made some vulgar comments about his daughter during said arrest. He was eventually released on bond, while his passenger took the bulk of the more serious charges.

You can press play on “@ Meh” below. Whole Lotta Red should be arriving sooner than we expect.
