YNW Melly will have to remain behind bars, although he recently tested positive for Coronavirus. According to TMZ, the “Murder On My Mind” rapper will have to continue serving his sentence at the Broward County jail in Florida.

The families of the alleged victims have been very vocal about wanting to keep the Melly vs. Melvin rapper locked up. They believed that he doesn’t deserve an early release and that he is a threat to other people.

A few weeks ago, Melly’s lawyer Bradford Cohen filed legal documents claiming that the rapper is suffering from severe chills, heavy breathing, headaches and body aches. Cohen said that his client only weighed 114 pounds and medical personnel at the prison were not monitoring him every hour like they were supposed to.

Cohen also claimed that Melly is sharing a cell with another inmate who has also tested positive for COVID-19. He stated that he believes that “the virus can be mutated or passed reoccurring between individuals.”

Melly’s lawyer stated that the prison was not prepared for this type of epidemic because “they have not given them masks, or cleaning supplies that would be beneficial regarding his recovery. This is against all recommendations of the Surgeon General and CDC.”

Melly’s team revealed that the rapper had Coronavirus earlier this month.

“Melly has tested positive for COVID-19 while awaiting his trial in Broward County jail,” the post from his team read. “He’ll be filing a motion for restricted release in hopes of better care due to any jails not being prepared to treat this new virus. He hopes for your support and to recover soon #prayformelly send positive energy to him please.”

He was originally arrested and charged with the murders of two of his friends Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams and Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. TMZ reports that Melly is still experiencing the side effects of the virus such as difficulty breathing.
