Following his Instagram Live battle with Scott Storch, Mannie Fresh issued an apology to his opponent after fans accused him of using inappropriate skits.

During a conversation with “The Breakfast Club,” Fresh opened up about his live-streamed battle with Storch where he played skits that took a jab at his glasses, personal life and history with drug abuse. “They was like, ‘You took a low blow at him.’ I’m like, no, I consider dude a friend. And if he would have done the history of it, then he would have known that all of that go with the beat battle. Anything in hip hop is kind of a battle.”

He continued, “I called Scott myself the next morning and I was like, ‘Hey homie, I feel like this. A lot of people are upset about the skits or whatever,’ and I was like, ‘I apologize bro if I went too hard on you.’ His reply was, ‘I gotta own up to all that. I know Imma hear that.’”

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, many celebrities have participated in friendly Instagram battles to keep fans entertained. Big names have joined the live-streamed tournaments including Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Lil John, The-Dream, Sean Garrett and more.

For the next battle, which is scheduled to take place on April 18, Babyface and Teddy Riley will go head-to-head. In an Instagram post, Babyface explained why he postponed the event that was originally set to take place earlier this month.

“I tested positive for the Covid19 virus, as did my family. It’s an incredibly scary thing to go through my friends. I’m happy to report we have now tested negative and are on our way back to full health,” he wrote. “With that being said… I would like to officially accept the invitation from the legendary Swizz Beatz & Timbaland to participate with my little brother, Teddy Riley in what I’d like to call a Celebration of Black Music Excellence in – Teddy vs. Babyface.”
