Last month, New York rising star Fivio Foreign liberated his new single “Wetty,” which is set to appear on his forthcoming album 800 BC (Before Corona). As with many of the New York drill songs that have been released, other hip hop peers have began jumping on instrumentals with twists of their own. This week, Kevin Gates decided to jump on the aforementioned cut for a dope freestyle about Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson and more. He also responds to Chicago producer Young Chop, who had words for Gates and — seemingly — the rest of the hip hop community over the past week:

“Listen, I cut off my finger to save my hand, that’s how I got established, I cut off a knee them made ‘em dance, Chris Brown, Michael Jackson/

My heart goes out to Young Chop, and the industry they gon’ blackball him, I sold hard with the gun cocked, I’m in the streets and them pack callin’/

Crash site seven minutes from my house, rest in peace to the Black Mamba, this here goin’ to Virginia, got a hunnid ki’s in a black Honda…/”

The track is accompanied by a Nicky Films-directed visual, which mixes footage of Kevin Gates in a cigar bar with the apparent movement of Bread Winners’ Association product in a couple of minivans. The freestyle follows another titled “Always Be Gangsta,” which stems from his visit to Charlie Sloth’s “Fire In The Booth” series. He has also recently provided assistance for electronic producer Destructo’s “Bandz,” which also featured Yo Gotti and Denzel Curry. Prior to that, his second album — I’m Him — was released last September and saw production from DJ Chose, Take A DayTrip, Nard & B, Yung Lan and more.
