Lady Gaga, Global Citizen and the World Health Organization (WHO) have announced “One World: Together At Home,” a televised event to raise money to combat the spread of COVID-19.

According to the Global Citizen website, “The virtual broadcast will show unity among all people who are affected by COVID-19, as well as celebrating and supporting the brave frontline health care workers around the world who are doing incredible, life-saving work.”

The special will air live April 18 at 8 pm ET on multiple networks such as ABC, NBC, CBS and iHeartMedia. The live event will also stream on multiple platforms such as Apple, Instagram, Facebook, Amazon Prime Video, TIDAL, YouTube, and Yahoo.

Jimmy Fallon will be the host for the historic night. There will be performances and appearances from Lizzo, John Legend, Idris and Sabrina Elba, J Balvin, Kerry Washington and more.

Yesterday (Apr. 6), Lady Gaga announced that $35 million had already been raised over the past week.

“It is so important to think globally and support the World Health Organization to curb the pandemic and prevent future outbreaks,” she said. “We want to highlight the gravity of this historical, unprecedented, and cultural movement.”

She continued, “We are all so very grateful to all of the health care professionals across the country and around the world, who are on the frontlines during COVID-19… What you are doing is putting yourselves in harm’s way to help the world and we all salute you.”

Global Citizen and WHO have also launched the “Together At Home” concert series. The virtual shows aim to unite humanity at a time when they feel alone in their homes during the pandemic. The concert series encourages people to stay home and practice social distancing to help stop the spread of Coronavirus. Other celebrities that have performed under “Together At Home” are Jennifer Hudson, H.E.R., Chloe x Halle, Miguel, John Legend, Ziggy Marley, and Common.
